Catherine Farrell

Catherine completed her Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications, Italian) and a Diploma in Modern Languages (French) at the University of Melbourne in 2008. In 2011, she completed a Juris Doctor, also from the University of Melbourne. While at university, Catherine worked as a law clerk at the Melbourne University Legal Service, volunteered at the Public Interest Law Clearing House and at Victoria Legal Aid, undertook internships at the Coroner’s Court of Victoria and the Australian Law Reform Commission, and worked as a research assistant to Associate Professor Elise Bant.
In 2012, Catherine joined Clothier Anderson Immigration Lawyers and undertook her traineeship year with us. Following admission to legal practice in 2013, Catherine worked on a variety of matters, ranging from corporate migration, to family violence and protection visa applications. Catherine continues to work on complex matters including but not limited to public interest criteria, health waivers, migration fraud issues, employer-sponsored migration, character matters and permanent visa cancellations. She presently runs a significant litigation practice in the Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court and High Court and works frequently in merits review, assisting clients with their Part 7AA matters, citizenship and character review processes in the general division of the AAT and review applications in the migration and refugee division of the AAT. Catherine has recently obtained a Diploma of Government Law at the University of Melbourne and is an Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law. |
