Isabel completed a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Human Rights Theory) at Monash University in 2019. While at university, Isabel volunteered at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s Human Rights Law program, undertook a legal placement at Springvale Monash Legal Service and engaged in an exchange to the University of Waterloo, Canada. She also completed an internship at the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect where she engaged in research and advocacy addressing issues related to mass atrocity prevention, populations at risk and the norm of the Responsibility to Protect, and undertook an internship at Monash University’s Castan Centre for Human Rights, where she engaged in research relating to migration and refugee issues.
After completing her studies, Isabel commenced work in the Migration and Refugee Division of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, where she initially worked as an associate, then later as a legal officer. Isabel undertook research and analysis and provided legal advice to Tribunal Members and staff on administrative law and other relevant issues to the AAT with a particular focus on migration and refugee law. Isabel was admitted to practice in June 2021 and joined CAIL as a lawyer in March 2022. |
