James Clarke

James completed a Bachelor of Arts across the University of Melbourne and the University of California at Berkeley, double majoring in English and Theatre Studies and Gender Studies. He completed a Juris Doctor at Monash University in 2019, undertook practical legal training at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA) in Katherine, and was admitted to practice in 2020.
Prior to joining Clothier Anderson, James volunteered and worked in the Human Rights Law Program at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre for six years, including two years in a legal support role and two years as a solicitor. He has also worked as a solicitor in the Migration program at Victoria Legal Aid. James was part of Liberty Victoria’s Rights Advocacy Project for a number of years, including holding a position on the steering committee. In 2018 he helped to produce the States of Refuge report as part of his work there, surveying access to basic services for people seeking asylum and refugees at the state level, across a number of Australian jurisdictions. |
