Luke is an experienced immigration lawyer specialising in refugee/humanitarian, character, citizenship and Ministerial intervention matters at all stages. Having worked in refugee and immigration law since 2018 and gained his legal qualifications in 2020, he was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria and in the High Court of Australia in 2022.
Luke joined Clothier Anderson in June 2023 having practised as a solicitor at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre since June 2022. There, he appeared before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Department of Home Affairs, instructed counsel in the Federal Courts and coordinated a weekly night clinic of volunteers. His matters often involve complex strategy considerations. Previously, he was the paralegal team leader at WLW Migration Lawyers, where he led a team of nine paralegals while assisting clients across the breadth of the migration program. During his studies, Luke undertook internships at the ASRC and at the Fitzroy Legal Service’s Prison Law Program. He maintains a strong interest in criminal law, having topped his undergraduate class in the subject at La Trobe University in Melbourne, including where it intersects with immigration law. Luke believes strongly in access to justice and the potential of refugee immigration law to change lives. Outside of work, he is occupied by music, cooking and art |
